The Annual Heritage Awards Celebration, is held in February and occurs over a dinner setting. The Outstanding African-American Heritage Award is presented to the person selected by the board from nominations received from the public of individuals who have made a significant impact on the fabric of the community. High school seniors, selected to receive Henry Cowherd, Jr. Scholarships, are presented with their scholarship awards at the Heritage Awards Celebration.

Henry Cowherd, Jr. Scholarship Fund: Henry Cowherd is one of the City of Aurora’s leading citizens. AAHAB has a yearly goal of seeking donations that will go towards helping to equip students with the tools necessary for advancement by awarding scholarships to high school seniors.  

African American Achiever’s Academy (A5) - is a youth leadership training institute, created by the AAHAB, designed to educate, empower, inspire, and invigorate high school students by providing leadership skills that promote and enhance the quality of life for themselves, their families, and the community.
